TRACKING ($10,000) Nship Grant at FATIMA ALI SHERIFF CLINIC. (08-01-2020) Background of the facility

Fatima Ali Sheriff Comprehensive Healthcare Centre located at Maisandari Ward, Maiduguri Metropolitan Council has a targeted population of about 52,615. The healthcare centre was commissioned on Monday 26th May 2008 providing healthcare access to communities of Bulumkutu, Dala, Alamderi, Ngomari Axis and many communities that surround the areas. It is a hospital facility that provides access to antenatal and postnatal to women in the community. The facility serve as the primary healthcare center that cushion the hardship of many pregnant women in the community to enable women have access to basic needs and health concern.  The facility received its contract of Nship project around July 2018 extending to 2020.

CHALLENGES FACED OVER THE LACK OF OR INCAPACITATION OF THE FACILITY

The head of the facility Hadiza Muhammad pointed out that some of the challenges faced by the community due to limited and untimely release of fund under the Nship project is the major bottleneck which is stopping the health facility from having some health service that have tremendous negative impact in the lives of the community people. The challenges facing the PHC resulting because of limited funding include:

  • Lack of power supply
  • Lack of funds to maintain the provided solar power supply.
  • Lack of funds to pay for electricity bill.
  • Lack of water supply due to limited power availability.

The community people also lament on little attention that is given to them on the NShip project which causes a major setback in actualizing some of the needs of the facility. 

ISSUES SURROUNDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF NSHIP PROJECT IN THE HEALTHCARE FACILITY.

The health facility managers also pointed out the progress made in the implementation of the grants including purchase of medicine needed by patients. Payment of referrals to community and purchase of some equipments.
