
In a remarkable collaboration led by the Climate Adaptation and Transition to a Green Economy, Center for Advocacy, Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI), in partnership with the Center for Social Cohesion Peace and Empowerment (CENSCOPE), and funding support from ActionAid Denmark and the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), under the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA II). CATAI commemorate the International Youth Day 2023 with the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World” on August 15, 2023. This momentous occasion unfolded at the El-kanemi Hall, University of Maiduguri, in the heart of Borno state. The International Youth Day 2023 was the backdrop for this exceptional event, which aimed to bring about positive change by harnessing the collective energy of 50 dynamic young individuals and key stakeholders. Together, they tackled the pressing issues of climate change, with a specific focus on the Borno state region.

The overarching objective of this event was to elevate awareness among young people regarding the crucial concept of green skills and their pivotal role in combating climate change. It was a call to action, emphasizing the urgent need to create a more sustainable world through the development of green skills and the engagement of youth in the process.One of the key highlights of this gathering was the creation of an inclusive platform that fostered dialogue between young people and key stakeholders from diverse sectors. This open exchange of ideas and perspectives was instrumental in underlining the significance of transitioning to green skills for a brighter, more sustainable future. It was a day of collaboration, where the voices of tomorrow’s leaders were heard and valued.

Moreover, the event served as a showcase for various opportunities and practices aimed at generating green jobs for young individuals. The focus was on not only addressing the climate crisis but also on creating viable pathways for economic empowerment within the green sector. These green jobs not only promise to sustain our planet but also offer a promising future for the youth of Borno state.
